Day 38, Nov 7th

We started having some problems with the motorhomes house batteries. We purchased these new in Feb of 2010. They were still under warranty so we drove to the nearest battery dealer in Bloomfield Connecticut. We disconnected the car and left the motorhome with them. They told us it would be done by 5pm.

We drove into Hartford Connecticut and walked through the old State House. This was built in 1797 and served as Connecticut's capital from 1797 to 1873. This is where John Quincy Adams defended the Slaves that were taken from Africa illegally. At sea on the ship Amistad, the slaves mutinied, killed the captain and a few crew members and sailed to America. They slaves were brought on trail and later found to be innocent.

After picking the motorhome back up, we drove to Torrington Connecticut and spent the night at the Walmart.

Very cool old firetruck, my how technology has changed.

This area of Connecticut was blasted with so much wet snow so early in the year that most of the trees that still had leaves fell over or had large branches broken from the weight. There are still areas of Connecticut that are still without power.
